Relaxing Golden Milk

This recipe is the ultimate way to wind down after your long day. I like to make this drink and sip it in the evening once everything is done and dusted and I can just have some me-time to settle down. With each sip I can feel myself relaxing and the tension easing out of my tired little body. The earthiness of the spices creates a warm, soothing sensation that is difficult to top.

Naturally sweetened, silky smooth and spiked with warming spices it soothes your system. There are few things I hate more than not being able to take some time to relax before getting into bed. I need my routine to calm my body and my mind if I want any chance at some good sleep (unlike my partner who can sleep deeply at any given moment). I really love going through the motions of my evening routine. Even if my day has been rough here is where I can bring in a little self-care.

This milk can also be enjoyed cold, I just really think sipping it warm enhances the relaxing effect. You could also easily substitute the almond milk for any other plant milk (coconut, macadamia and cashew would really work well here).

Relaxing Golden Milk

Serves one

1 1/2 cup almond milk (heated until very warm if you are wanting to drink this hot, but don’t boil.)

1 1/2 tsp coconut butter

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp ginger

1-2 black peppercorns

1 date (if your date isn’t really soft and sticky soak it in hot water for a couple of minutes to soften it up)

*optional – if you’re feeling under the weather then 1tsp of manuka honey is a great add in.


Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until everything is silky smooth and starting to get frothy on top. Strain if needed and serve. Store in the fridge for a couple of days if needed.

If you really want to up the vibes in this drink then I would suggest adding 1tsp tocos (I love Moon Juice’s powders and dusts and would highly recommend this one!) and 1/2tsp ashwagandha.
