Rose Chai Latte with Tahini

Scorpio season begins tomorrow and we had a new moon in Libra on Thursday night. I’m feeling a lot of different energy right now. I guess a lot of people don’t believe in the stars and the moon but I do. Maybe because I’m a deeply sensitive person? I’m not sure what it is. All I know is that I can feel it.

The new moon in Libra is ushering in balance, beauty, self-care and intuition. All things I’m definitely needing to focus on. Autumn brings about a real sense of change and transition for most people, it’s good to tune into your intuition during this time and look for balance. Scorpio season always makes me very reflective. It’s my season and maybe it’s because my birthday lands within it that I find myself looking back on the year; what do I want to take with me, what do I want to let go and release. What do I want 26 to look like? I think I’ll take a cue from Libra’s new moon offerings and go with balance, beauty, self-care and intuition.

For as long as I can remember I’ve always had trouble with finding restful sleep. Yesterday was one of those days where time was slipping by quicker than I could grasp it until it came to the evening. Then time decided to stretch out in front of me, endlessly. I didn’t even feel slightly tired come midnight. Passing the time by writing and reading. Begging for tiredness to wash over me. It didn’t until after 06:30 this morning when tears of exhaustion and frustration were staining my face. Needless to say, I’m not feeling quite myself today.

That is where this soothing potion comes in. I needed something warming and heart opening. Rose water always fills me with a sense of calm and chai spices help me feel grounded (I love tea from Tchai Ovna). The caffeine from the black tea will get me through the afternoon and the tahini adds a depth of flavour and creaminess that makes this drink feel indulgent.

Rose Chai Latte with Tahini

1 cup warm plant milk (I used oat)

1/2 cup hot water

1 tsp chai tea (or one teabag)

1 large tbsp tahini

1 date (I use medjool dates)

1/2 tsp rose water


Add the chai to the hot water and let steep for 5 minutes. Strain and add to blender with the rest of your ingredients. Blend on high until smooth and frothy. Serve immediately.
